Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Based off empirical research I believe we are emotionally, physiologically, and spiritually created for connection. Therefore, I also believe relationships are the catalyst for both pain and change. For these reasons I utilize Attachment Theory and Psychodynamic Therapy to understand and build a strong relationship with my clients. Empathy is my primary vehicle to help clients feel understood. Neuroscience shows if we explore our vulnerabilities in the context of a safe and loving relationship our neuro-pathways can be altered. This is fantastic news, meaning we do not have to be stuck. Therefore, my hope is to create a safe environment where client’s can be authentic with their vulnerabilities and not feel judged.
I am a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator for premarital counseling and I love working with individuals and couples. I believe children need a therapist who specializes in play-therapy, therefore I refer all children to trusted colleagues. My education includes a B.A. in Art Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Masters of Arts in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
